Pursue Your Passion With WVS

(Careers, Student Externships)

"At WVS, we don't hire for skills, we hire for attitude. We can always teach skills," - Dr. Al Martens

Our clinic believes skills can be taught. A person's character and attitude are unteachable. We are always looking for individuals that exemplify three skills...

  • Humble - thinking of others more than yourself; being able to give praise and take criticism easily.

  • Hungry - drive; willing to work until the job gets done.

  • People smart - being aware how one's actions and reactions affect those around them.

Waupun Veterinary Services is a progressive team of 14 veterinarians based out of Waupun, Wis., focusing primarily on dairy farms we serve, as well as, equine and small ruminant clients. Open Positions

Associate Veterinarian

We strive to prepare ourselves for the future and are continuously looking for the right associate to provide quality medicine, surgery, and consultation to our large animal clients. If you believe you are the right fit for our clinic and clients, we encourage you to apply.  The ideal candidate will be a team player, hardworking and will be expected to have or develop strong bovine skills. While strong core competencies in bovine medicine and surgery are standard for the WVS team, we also offer special services to our bovine clients and encourage new vets to explore their interests and strengths.

These specialized services include nutrition work, barn ventilation and design, financial analysis, records analysis, DC305 programming and bull reproductive services. Our equine program currently offers reproduction, dental care, preventative care and spinal manipulation therapy. Our small ruminant program provides ultrasound pregnancy diagnosis, breeding soundness exams and laparoscopic A.I. services.

We want to know what you are passionate about and pursue that interest to grow or expand any of the services mentioned above or into a new service that may benefit our bovine, equine or small ruminant clients. Experienced and new graduates are encouraged to apply. Please enter your information below, or email us at waupunvetjob.com or submit your information below.

4th Year Student Externships

Are you a third-year veterinary student planning your clinical year? Do you have the desire to learn and a strong passion for large animal medicine?

WVS offers externships for fourth year veterinary students from any veterinary college. Externships range two to three weeks in length and are limited in quantity. Students will ride and work daily with one of our multiple doctors. Mentorship of the student is our top priority. WVS doctors have a passion for large animal medicine, and each doctor provides unique services that benefit our clients.

To get to know our doctors better and the passion they bring to our clients, explore our doctors profile tab of the website. Student externs will have firsthand experience in many aspects of bovine medicine. Students will gain a better understanding of the reproductive cycle via pregnancy palpation and ultrasound examination. Students will learn the art of a thorough on-farm physical exam. Other mentored skills include surgery, building herd health protocols, nutrition, milk quality, and many more.

If you have interest in small ruminants and equine, in addition to bovine medicine, WVS provides these services to our clients as well. If you are interested in applying, we request that you send us your resume and cover letter. This will assist our clinic in scheduling students who are strong candidates that possibly one day could become future veterinarians at WVS. To apply, please fill out the information in the link below. Please schedule your externship four months in advance. Include a minimum of two – two-to-three-week date ranges to simplify scheduling.
